While not originally from Texas (I grew up in Williamsburg, VA and St. Louis, MO, with a 10-year career stint in Washington, DC), I consider myself a Texan now after living here 20+ years.
I spent five years, representing the Texas wine industry through my PR work with the Texas Department of Agriculture and have been so fortunate to meet many growers and winemakers and taste their terrific wines. I mean, what a great job!
I also work with Whole Foods Market, helping promote its terrific wine program, which is very supportive of regional wines.
I have been involved with the DrinkLocalWine.com Conference since its start — Texas hosted this inaugural gathering of wine writers in 2009.
Most recently, I became a Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers. I also am a Certified Specialist of Wine. To mix things up a bit, I may study for the Certified Specialist of Spirits exam.
