Some national love for Texas wine

In the current (best new chefs) issue of Food and Wine, sommeliers suggest versatile wines to pair with almost anything and some of their wine pet peeves. Pappas Bros. Drew Hendricks, master sommelier, gives a shout out to Texas wines and Sandstone Cellars VII, made by winemaker Don Pullum. Follow him @akashicvineyard

Drew also lets us all know he does not approve of pairing chocolate with red wine (two tannic items are not meant to go together!). Follow him @drewhendricksms

In The Daily Meal, Four Season’s James Tidwell, also a master sommelier, shares some of his favorite summer wines — including the 2010 McPherson Cellars Roussanne. (yes, I picked up a case of this delicious white wine when I visited the High Plains recently). Follow James @winejames

So you might want to try these two wines for a taste of Texas and what’s to come.
